No museum for you!

Housed in an impressive villa set in an expansive park, Villa Borghese is chock-full of art. But it has the most frustrating and least user-friendly admissions policies I've ever seen. Weeks in advance, you have to suffer through a ridiculous website to make your required reservations. Once provided a confirmation number, you are then instructed to arrive at the site 30 minutes prior to your reservation time. Which we dutifully did at 8:30am this morning, joining a line of about 50 people. About 20 minutes in, the line totally dissolved and regrouped in another location, motivated by the appearance of a museum staff person, who opened the gate briefly to inform those at the front of the line that there was an electrical failure. She would know more in 10 minutes. After about 20 more minutes of waiting outside, we were finally let in to admire the villa interior, most of which we experienced somewhat anticlimactically by the most limited natural light imaginable. Welcome to Italy.
