Give peace a chance
Hiroshima's peace park was created as a place of beauty and healing. The park is full of memorials, including the dome--the only building left intact from the bomb's destruction. The memorial museum inside the park provided an intensive overview of the political and historic context of the bomb, its impact on Hiroshima and the city's work to rebuild. The entryway provides a large-scale photo diorama of the bomb's destruction--a sober and moving introduction. Oral histories from survivors provide personal perspectives. Since the war, the city of Hiroshima has worked actively to promote peace.
