Walking in Mumbai

The walking here is the most civilized we've experienced thus far in India. There are functional sidewalks with paving that are generally unobstructed, so you don't need to dodge cars, buses, mopeds, and other moving vehicles while walking in the street! There are crosswalks! There are streetlights with pedestrian walk signals and drivers seem to pay attention to them! There are also street signs, so finding your destination on foot is actually possible! No cows (though there are lots of stray dogs and cats) and no rickshaws! In south Mumbai, there are also some lovely upscale residential areas, tree-lined and pedestrian- friendly. We're beginning to think that we should have started our trip here...
